Designed and created by Mark Thomson, father of super surfer/shaper Daniel "Tomo" Thomson, the Krypt MT5 surfmat really has to be seen to be believed! It is the fifth generation of surfmats produced after 10 years of design experimentation and development.

Not a bodyboard, and most definitely not a lilo, these things have been clocked at reaching speeds of 48kms per hour! The Krypt MT5 is lightweight, super-fast and super easy to transport. Made from a lightweight, ultra-thin Hi-Tech military grade fabric the MT5 is incredibly strong and durable. The Surf Mat is not designed for aerials or tricks and is not a body board. It is a high performance wave riding vehicle that, when pushed, allows for super fast speed runs along the perfect trim spot that each ridden wave offers.

Mats easily adapt to a wide range of surfing conditions. From long glassy, perfect walls, to blown out choppy waves, the mat performs well in all conditions. When no one else wants to get in the water, the Krypto MT5 will have you getting golden waves in unsurfable junk.

The challenge and variety offered from riding a surfmat is down to learning to balance and fine tune the surf mat's air pressure to the specific needs of the wave you ride.

In general, a surf mat requires less air in smaller, flatter waves and a bit more air in larger more powerful waves. However, experienced mat riders prefer to ride a softer inflation as doing this allows the mat to run faster over the water. A mat rider can experience many different levels of riding performance by simply adjusting the mats air pressure between rides.

Mat riding involves learning to change the internal pressure of the mat by squeezing and gripping the fabric to alter the thickness, buoyancy and rocker.

Once you master these basic skills, you can experience incredible increases in speed and control. No need to worry about losing ones mat as the soft textured nylon is easy to hold on to. A leash is not needed as the rider and the mat are rarely separated.
