FAQs

What is the Ride Number?

The Ride Number ranges from 1 to 10 and reflects a fin's speed vs. control balance:

  • 1–4 = Speed Control
Fins in this range offer more control, drive, and predictability. Ideal for powerful, steeper waves or surfers who like to draw clean lines.
    Materials: Often stiffer
  • 4–7 = Balanced Feel
A perfect mix of speed and control. Great for all-around surfing and a variety of wave types.
  • 7–10 = Speed Generating
Fins in this range are more flexible, offering liveliness and spring.Perfect for small, mushy waves or surfers who like a looser, more playful feel.
Materials: Typically lighter or more flexible (like Honeycomb or Alpha).

Are Futures fins compatible with FCS fin boxes?

In a perfect world, it would be epic to have both fin systems on one board to match the conditions you are surfing. Unfortunately, that's not the case, and you won't be able to use Future Fins in an FCS fin box or vice versa. Our recommendation would be to explore different fin systems and board dimensions to match your local surf break. If your spot out front has big and powerful surf that requires a fin system that will be durable and hold, then Futures Fins should be your go-to!

Can you use Futures fins on any surfboard?

The answer to this is simple:

Futures Fin boxes: FUTURES FINS ONLY

FCS Fin boxes: FCS FINS ONLY

Make sure that wherever your next surfing adventure is, you have the right fin system for your surfboards. We couldn't think of anything worse than rocking up to your next surf holiday with no fins to use!

What materials are Futures fins made of?

Futures Fins have been constructed and manufactured over the years to provide you with the most optimal surf experience to date. They offer exceptional speed control and flex down the line for that dream surf we are all chasing, making them a top choice around Europe, as far as the Netherlands and the rest of the world!

Futures Surfboard Fins Construction

  • Honeycomb

Honeycomb fins are light and provide a medium flex, making them a great choice for all-around performance for surfers of all levels. Ideal for both a thruster and quad setup, you will experience a smooth ride and optimal control.

  • Carbon

Carbon fins are often super strong, built for speed, and their responsiveness is unmatched.

  • Fibreglass

These fins are strong and durable, ideal for powerful waves, making them a reliable choice for your next ride.

  • Air Infused Making

Air Infused refers to a surfboard fin construction process used by Futures Fins where air is blended into the fin’s composite material during manufacturing. This technique is part of their Alpha series and is designed to make the fins lighter without compromising the strength or performance of your ride.
